Officer Apted was an officer of the Vista Beach Police Department and right hand man to Chief of Police Rupert Craig. He assisted in the chief's investigation of the local burglaries, before later arresting the chief after discovering he had a hand in the burglaries.

Knight Rider (1982)[]
Officer Apted joined the Vista Beach Police Department and quickly became the partner of Chief Rupert Craig. This led him to become involved in the investigation into the burglaries.
Eventually, Michael Knight was sent down to Vista Beach by the Foundation for Law and Government to investigate the burglaries. He continually ran into Officer Apted, who stayed silent around Michael and merely let Chief Craig do the talking.
Eventually, Michael linked the local radio station to the burglaries. Forcing both Mace Beaudry and Rupert Craig to step in and attempt to kill him. Little did they know, but K.I.T.T. was listening in on the chief's confession and recorded it. Mace was then tasked to eliminate Michael Knight.
After Michael escaped, Apted raced after K.I.T.T. and the racer's pursuing him. He then stopped his pursuit after discovering that the chief of police was involved in the burglaries. So, he promptly arrested him alongside the rest of the department.

Officer Apted is a mostly quiet man who lets the chief do the talking.
