Lance Barton is the sheriff of an unnamed town in the Season 3 episode, The Rotten Apples. He is a corrupt officer who works with his older brother and younger brother to take over Dr. Rebecca Hammond's ranch for its strip mining operation.

After discovering the millions worth of strip mining that sat under Rebecca's ranch. Sheriff Lance Barton worked with his brother and best friend to take out her cattle and eventually force her out of the land. He also continually worked to ignore Rebecca's pleas for help.
When Michael Knight arrived in town to help Rebecca and her ranch. Lance ignored his pleas for assistance with the case and even fought with him over evidence of poisonings on her ranch. But he ultimately lost the evidence to Michael.
Later, when Michael broke into Ed's safe. Lance attempted to shoot Michael, but was knocked out. Later, he stole the remainder of Rebecca's cattle herd. But was tracked down and detained by Rebecca's children and eventually arrested.
Personality[]
Lance is a cocky and arrogant man. Who takes his title as sheriff to mean he is more important than anyone else. He was very corrupt and cared little for Rebecca or her children. Even attempting to kill them at certain points in the episode. He was also prone to showing off his shooting skills to intimidate people.
Skills[]
While not an outstanding genius by any means. He was smart enough to appear oblivious and innocent to Rebecca's pleas and was also a very capable sharpshooter.

- Lance is the only living member of his brother's left. As both were accidentally killed when their monster trucks crashed into each other and exploded while they attempted to kill Michael Knight and K.I.T.T.
