John Stanton was a former boat repairman who came into contact with the super vehicle, K.A.R.R. in the episode K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R. and became the unwitting driver of the vehicle until Michael Knight and K.I.T.T. rescued him and his girlfriend Mandy from K.A.R.R.'s clutches.
Biography[]
Knight Rider (1982)[]
Sometime before 1984, John became a boat repairman at Mr. D's Marine, repairing boats for four dollars an hour. Around this time he also met his girlfriend, Mandy.
One day in 1984, the two went searching on the beach when they discovered the remains of K.A.R.R. from his last bout against K.I.T.T. and Michael in the episode Trust Doesn't Rust. They unknowingly reactivated K.A.R.R. as they dug him out of the sand. They then took a drive in him, with Mandy telling John that he should get rid of it in case anyone came looking for it.
John planned on doing so, before K.A.R.R. revealed his presence to him. At first John did not want any part in K.A.R.R.'s schemes, but ultimately caved in due to K.A.R.R.'s manipulation. The two were then tracked down by K.I.T.T. and Michael after being chased by the police.
Once they escaped, John hid K.A.R.R. out in a garage at Mr. D's Marine. There he told K.A.R.R. off and left him. So, K.A.R.R. used his tech to make the pace maker in Eddie Dexter's heart, John's boss, malfunction. Forcing him to go to the hospital. There, K.A.R.R. met John again and convinced him to team up once more.
They then pursued the F.L.A.G. Mobile Unit to steal Alpha Capacitors. Smashing into the trailer and holding Devon Miles and Bonnie Barstow hostage before stealing the Alpha Capacitors and the Laser Powerpack intended for K.I.T.T. to use against K.A.R.R.
John then took K.A.R.R. back to Mr. D's Marine to complete his upgrades, before having K.A.R.R. steal money from an ATM machine to buy Mr. D's Marine from Eddie. However, Eddie suspected John had help acquiring the money and so John introduced him to K.A.R.R. where Eddie spoke about his brother-in-law who drives an armored van with enough money inside to keep K.A.R.R. up to scratch.
However, before the plan could be implemented John left. As he did not want to be apart of it. Later, however, K.A.R.R. took Mandy hostage and used her against John to force him to help capture the armored truck and eventually destroy Michael and K.I.T.T. Before the battle could begin, K.A.R.R. let John and Mandy go.
After K.A.R.R. was destroyed, Michael gave John enough Foundation funds to buy Mr. D's Marine and turn it into John's Marine. Happy with this new life, John said goodbye to Michael before he and Mandy departed.
Personality[]
John is a kind guy at heart who is pressured to do bad. However, unlike K.A.R.R.'s other drivers, he does not want to break the law. But instead wants to go about things the right way. He also helps people in need, as seen when he gave an old lady some of his stolen money.
