Commander Henry Ashburton Smythe is an old friend of Devon Miles who appears in the episode, Custom K.I.T.T.
Biography[]
Knight Rider (1982)[]
When Devon was in his youth, Henry trained him in the Royal Air Force. After he left the two stayed in touch for many years.
In 1983, Henry loaned Devon his car which was promptly stolen. Devon then tasked Michael Knight with getting the car back. Continually paranoid about Henry finding out and what would happen if he did. Henry then decided to surprise Devon with a visit and became increasingly annoyed when Devon had not given him his car back.
Devon then told Henry he had entered it into a car show. Thrilled, Henry requested Devon take him to see his precious car. Luckily for Devon, Michael had found the car and it went back into Henry's hands.
Personality[]
Henry appears to be a somewhat goofy old man who likes to talk about the old days and crack jokes about his past with Devon. However, he has a serious side that terrifies Devon.
