April Curtis was the chief mechanic for KITT in season 2 of Knight Rider. She was the replacement for Bonnie Barstow for a year and worked alongside Devon, Michael, and KITT throughout her time on the series.
Background[]
Knight Rider (1982)[]
After Bonnie Barstow left The Foundation in 1983 to pursue graduate studies. April replaced her during that time.
She was the head of the Design Team and preformed all of KITT's needs and technological duties and became a personal assistant to Devon. April was an excellent Knight Industries System Engineer in her own right.
In the episode, Race For Life, April's step-niece gets sick and has to have a bone marrow transplant. This is the only episode where anything related to April's family and background are revealed.
By mid-1984, April had seemingly left both F.L.A.G. and Knight Industries for some unknown reason. As she is never brought up during the episode or ever again in the franchise.
Personality[]
April was a sweet woman, who empathized greatly with Michael and KITT. She got on well with Devon, too. Becoming close enough with him to become his personal assistant during her tenure.
Skills[]
April was a skilled Mechanic and gave KITT a lot of skills which were used until the end of the series. She was also very intelligent, able to find out much of the drug running operation based on the VHS tapes of the performances of the rock band, Class Action in the episode, Let it Be Me.
Relationships[]
- Garthe Knight: Garthe showed a great deal of attraction toward April, feelings which April did not reciprocate in the least.
- KITT noted he thought of April as a mother figure, for telling him off when he is doesn't do well and praised him when he did.
Appearances[]
April has appeared in only one season, Season 2.
Trivia[]
- Despite being a prominent member of the team, April's origin is never explained nor is her apparent retirement from the Foundation. Although, this is most likely due to how she was never quite popular with fans of Knight Rider.
