At some point in the past Larkin was a junior field operative for the CIA. He eventually got promoted, which Barnswell heard about.
In 1983, he was sent to investigate the counterfeiting operation occurring in Alpine Crest. He discovered Michael Knight was also investigating the operation from local reporter, Jobina. He got ahold of Michael's fingerprints, but nobody at Langley could identify them.
Before Larkin could continue investigating further, Ron Austin murdered him in his hotel room. He believed this would allow Barnswell to calm down and hand over his money. But instead, it caused Barnswell to abandon his plan as he claimed that Ron was a dead man for killing Larkin.

Notes and Trivia[]
- Interestingly, Agent Larkin is assigned to investigate counterfeiting. This is inaccurate to real life, as the CIA lacks any law enforcement authority. Also counterfeiting would fall under Secret Service jurisdiction.
